Braces have been around for ages and have a stigma for being antiquated and unattractive. In reality, braces have continued to progress alongside the rest of dental and orthodontic technology. Today’s orthodontic professionals have created sophisticated and personalized systems to gradually guide your teeth into a proper alignment, free of gaps, crowding, uneven bites, and other functional or cosmetic concerns.
Our orthodontists want you to have pearly whites you can brag about and will have your friends asking where you got your smile. At Bayou Braces & Dentistry, we offer you traditional metal braces as well as clear braces for a less noticeable option.
Braces are the most common orthodontic treatment option available and have helped countless patients improve their teeth and smiles over the years. Braces work by using a system of metal brackets, wires, and bands to gradually and gently realign your teeth until they are in their ideal positions. At Bayou Braces & Dentistry, we offer both traditional metal, gold, and “clear” ceramic braces to meet your needs.
Our orthodontists may recommend braces to correct issues such as:
- Crowded and crooked teeth
- Gapped and spaced teeth
- Misaligned teeth
- Bite problems, including crossbites, open bites, underbites, and overbites
Metal Braces
Metal braces are the tried and true method of straightening teeth. Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Traditional metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel and work to straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires.
Gold Braces
Looking to spice up your smile both during and after treatment? Ask about gold braces as an option for your treatment plan. Although they are similar in function to traditional metal braces, this style gives you a bit more of a unique smile. Gold braces are a hit and we love seeing our patients having fun with their smiles while in orthodontic treatment.
Clear (Ceramic) Braces
Both metal and clear braces work in the same way. The brackets are attached to the front surfaces of your teeth and then connected through the use of a metal wire and rubber bands. As the wire is adjusted, your teeth will gradually shift into place. Unlike metal braces, however, clear braces are designed to blend in with your teeth. They are made from tooth-colored ceramic and are a discreet and equally effective treatment option.
Our orthodontists will meet with you regularly throughout your treatment to ensure that your braces are adjusted correctly and working to align your teeth.
